Liverpool’s imperious 5-2 defeat of Italian outfit Roma at Anfield yesterday should see them into the final of the 2018 Champions League, barring a historic collapse in Rome in a fortnight.
The swashbuckling, lightning way in which they dismantled Roma across 20 mins of football will be enough to frighten both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the two other semi-finalists in the competition.
With Mo Salah, anything is possible and it seems like a sixth Champions League win is on the cards.
In the other game, Germany meets Spain as the respective countries’ most successful clubs lock horns in a mouthwatering semi-final. On paper, Madrid should be favourites over the two-legs.
Should they beat Bayern and progress to the final, they’ll be within one game of winning a third Champions League in a row, a feat unprecedented in the modern era.
